Congratulations to Cal State Long Beach Paintball team!
On November 10th, 2007 the Western Conference of the NCPA/College Paintball met to battle it out at the San Diego Open held at Raza Park. Competition was fierce and included teams from notable schools; UCI Anteaters, SCU Broncos, UC Davis, UCSB Gauchos, USD Toreros, CSU San Marcos Cougars, and newcomers CSULB Paintball.
Matches were played out on a regulation sized field utilizing PSP's World Cup 5man Layout. Teams played out their games under the 5 for 5 format, 5 players for a 5 minute game. Center flag and points were counted based on live players at the end and who pulled the flag first. The day went along very smoothly and on schedule. Games were played back to back and after a round-robin bracket 4 teams went on to the finals. The final match between Cal State Long Beach against USD Toreros was hard fought. USD went into the match ahead on points and sent two players to the center X shooting one of the Long Beach players out off the break. With the game 5vs4, Jon Millman from Long Beach ran to the X and shot the legs out from under the players. After a series of moves and eliminations, 2 USD players battled it out against CSULB's Eric Omori who ultimately brought home CSULB's first victory.
